ABOUT US

Mission

UBUNTU-VILLAGE OF LIFE (U.V.L) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the disadvantaged peoples living in rural areas in sub-Saharan Africa, with particular emphasis on Burundi.  Our support will address the needs of returnees, displaced persons, widows, orphans and disabled children living in regions destroyed by conflict and poverty.

UVL was formed in response to the need that education and innovative technology practices are the founding pillars necessary to reach economic independence and growth.  We are committed to bringing about change in Africa.

Goals

  • To help 30% of families and individuals overcome poverty by 2025
  • To provide innovative and community-centric programming in the areas of education, health, agriculture, and environment
  • To build and develop personal and community capacity

Vision

Ubuntu-Village of Life is a non-profit organization whose vision is to support disadvantaged people living in rural areas with a particular emphasis on returnees, displaced persons, widows, orphans, and disabled children.  Areas of specific import include those destroyed during the civil war, all of which are still reeling from the damaging effects of war, poverty, and general instability.

Geographical areas

Ubuntu-village of life will mainly work in Sub Saharan Africa with particular emphasis on rural areas of Burundi. Activities will begin in Mugamba commune in the province of Bururi, an under-developed, poverty-stricken rural neighborhood that has no health care services within a 60 km distance.  Burundi has the highest maternal and under five children mortality rate in the world due to complication during pregnancy and childbirth accounting for respectively 740/100000, and 72/1000 live births.
